Leslie Spier Distinguished Professor Emeritus and Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Anthropological Research at the University of New Mexico, where he has been on the Anthropology faculty since 1975. Co-director with Gonzalez Morales of the El Mirón Cave Project, which began in 1996, he has also directed/co-directed numerous archeological excavations and surveys in Spain, Portugal, France and Belgium, notably at La Riera Cave, Casa da Mora and Vidigal, I' Abri Dufaure, le Trou Magrite, Huccorgne, l'Abri du Pape and la Grotte du Bois Laiterie. He is the author or author/editor of 23 books, monographs, and special journal issues and author/co-author of sorne 700 articles, chapters and book reviews. He is past-President of the INQUA Commission on Human Evolution and Paleoecology, past-member of the US National Committee for INQUA, and US representative on the UISPP Commission on the Upper Paleolithic of Eurasia.
