Jörn Leonhard

Biografía:
Jörn Leonhard, born 1967, is Professor of Modern European History at the University of Freiburg and Director of the School of History at the Freiburg Institute for Advanced Studies (FRIAS). He studied History, Political Science and Literature at the Universities of Oxford (Master 1992) and Heidelberg (M.A. 1994). He completed his dissertation on the comparative semantics of ‘liberalism’ at the University of Heidelberg in 1998. From 1998 to 2003 he was Fellow and Tutor in Modern History at Wadham College, University of Oxford, before accepting a Research Fellowship at the Historisches Kolleg in Munich in 2003/04. After his habilitation at the ­University of Heidelberg with a thesis on the relation between war experiences and concepts of nation in European and transatlantic comparison in 2004, he became Reader in West-European History at the University of Jena. In 2006 he accepted the call to the full chair in Freiburg.
